If you are called on to do some session work or accompany someone they might well expect something more than just strumming the chords along, and if it is a pop song with only a few of them in that can get quite boring. In this series of lessons I will show examples of how I would play the song, expanding the chords and introducing other rhythms, whilst still keeping the essence and recognisable components of the song intact.
The track has bass/drums on but the guitar parts are designed to work as stand alone performances with a singer. Also, this version demonstrates how to incorporate the bass line into the guitar part as well as the chords. For this song it is so integral to the groove that without that drive the song would certainly lack something.
Also, I have included some vocals on the backing track! You'll be able to get more of a feel for playing with a singer if you dont have one around to rehearse with. Also, if you want to improvise a bit, this will show where the gaps in the vocal lines are for the placement of fills etc. If you want to do it without the singing (or dont like it!) there is a full speed backign track without them as well.
Any questions/comment feel free to post on the forum
